The route from Fez
The road climbs through Ifrane and the Azrou cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques, crosses the Middle Atlas via Midelt, then follows the palm groves of the Ziz valley down to the desert.

Standard or luxury camp?
Standard camps have simple Berber tents and shared facilities. Luxury camps offer larger tents with beds and private bathrooms. Both serve dinner and breakfast.
When to go and what to pack
October to April is the most comfortable season; summer days are very hot. Pack a warm layer for desert nights, a scarf against sand and sun, sunglasses and a small overnight bag, as the main luggage usually stays in the vehicle.
